In a field loaded with the nation’s best programs, the Red Raiders fought through a tough championship test and capped a season that pushed the program back into national relevance.
Denisa Vodickova led Texas Tech individually, finishing tied for 105th at 8-over 224 after rounds of 73, 76 and 75. Lauren Zaretsky was right behind her at 9-over 225, tying for 110th after posting 74, 76 and 75.
Cameron Freund and Klara Hurtova each finished tied for 122nd at 11-over 227. Hurtova delivered one of Texas Tech’s better closing pushes, firing her best round of the week with a 2-over 74 on Sunday. Freund added steady rounds of 78, 74 and 75. Maja Ambroziak rounded out the lineup at 15-over 231.
No, 29th place won’t grab national headlines. But context matters.
Texas Tech reached the NCAA Championship after earning one of five qualifying spots at the Ann Arbor Regional, securing just the fifth NCAA Championship appearance in program history.
That’s a major step for a team trying to build more than a one-week run.
The season had real juice, too. The Red Raiders won the Red Raider Invitational, Vodickova captured the individual title at the MountainView Collegiate and Texas Tech got back to Carlsbad against elite competition.
That matters for recruiting. It matters for belief. It matters for the standard inside the program.
Texas Tech didn’t leave Omni La Costa with a trophy.
But the Red Raiders left with proof that this season moved the needle — and a clear target for what comes next.
