The Tulane Green Wave headed to the Saints facility where the defense made a stand as that side gels a bit faster in fall camp.

New Orleans, La. – While a team always wants to see some back and forth, the defense typically tends to come along a bit faster in fall camp, and the Tulane Green Wave certainly experienced that on Day 12 of camp on Thursday at the New Orleans Saints practice facility.

The team tends to play with a little more speed and fire when they’re in the indoors and surrounded by all the images of legends in Saints history.

Those practices are always exciting during the team period, which continues to see the majority of the reps split up between quarterbacks Kadin Semonza and Zeon Chriss-Gremillion.

Semonza in particular had a strong day on Thursday showing some quicker decision making and threw a strong touchdown pass to Anthony Brown-Stephens.

But Brown-Stephens was challenged throughout the day by a group of sticky defensive backs who are continuing to gel together and work on some extended stuff like another installment of dime defense.

This time, it was corners E’zaiah Shine and LJ Green joined by defensive backs/safeties Kevin Adams, Jack Tchienchou, TJ Smith, and Kajuan Banks. Stevenson worked in with this group on Tuesday in place of Green.

A few plays later, Smith had a killer pass breakup on a route by Brown-Stephens and will be someone to watch as the depth chart settles in.

It seems like the majority of the defense is set up save for a few spots, and perhaps where the backups will slot around.

The defensive line will always rotate and saw Warren Roberts take first team snaps at bandit today alongside Derrick Shepard at nose, Ed Smith at defensive tackle, and Josh Lewis at defensive end.

The linebacker corps will likely trot Chris Rodgers and Dickson Agu in as starters with Makai Williams and Dalton Hughes slated to see a lot of playing time.

The starting corners seem set with Shine and Anthony Rodgers with Green and Stevenson slotted as their backups.

At safety, it’s looking like Tchienchou and Adams though a lot of players have slotted around there.

Spear might be one of the only question marks on the defense as both Smith and Banks have seen a lot of snaps there along with Josh Moore, who could look to be a backup for the safety group.

Whoever ends up going out there in the best group of starting five has a lot of talent and has shown that against the proven talent on offense in Browns-Stephens and Destyn Hill.

The team will have one more practice on Friday ahead of the Saturday scrimmage that will be the final practice ahead of the official depth chart release.
