Tulane Lands Another Trio of Talented Players in Transfer Portal cover image

The Tulane Green Wave are reloading in the portal and have signed three more enticing players.

It’s hard to endure the time where the transfer portal hasn’t officially opened, but players can declare their intent to enter. It only shows what schools are losing without their recoups in return. The Tulane Green Wave waited out that exodus period and not only are they already returning the same number of starters as last season, but they also have picked up a considerable haul in the transfer portal.

They signed three players at quarterback, defensive back, and running back earlier in the week. By Friday, they signed another trio of incoming players for fans to get excited about: Houston Cougars defensive lineman Reshad Sterling, Duke Blue Devils tight end Vance Bolyard, and Boston College Eagles offensive lineman Ryan Mickow.

Sterling only appeared in one game for the Cougars last season and will have four years of eligibility remaining. Importantly, Sterling was a top target for the Green Wave in the 2025 recruiting class. Sterling was the No. 4 prospect coming out of high school, and the local product was the No. 11 player in the state of Louisiana, hailing out of Lutcher High School. He will work under defensive line coach Landius Wilkerson, returning for his third year with Tulane. That unit has to replace the entirety of its starters and considerable depth.

Bolyard spent three seasons with the Blue Devils and appeared in 23 games, and it’s an important position of need for the Green Wave to pick up. They’ve lost tight ends Justyn Reid and Anthony Miller to the transfer portal with Johnny Pascuzzi walking on Senior Night. He doesn’t have any stats but has shown flashes pass catching while displaying strong blocking skills, something Tulane has always utilized in its offenses.

To round out the trio of pickups, the Green Wave added Mickow, who spent two seasons with the Eagles and appeared in 24 games. He has experience at both tackle spots, which is important versatility. However, with Reese Baker returning at right tackle, that likely slots Mickow into competing for the left tackle role. He’s an absolutely massive lineman at 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds.

Tulane spent the first few days in the portal working with FCS level transfers and have started to pick up speed with targets out of Power Four programs. Now, there’s a chance those moving up to the FBS level may translate faster with more time played at the FCS level than some of these depth guys, but depth is the foundation of a program. The Green Wave are adding brick by brick to theirs.
