The transfer portal is in full swing, and the Tulane Green Wave is finally starting to see some action on the receiving end.
Tulane has picked up a trio of hard commitments from three much-needed position players: Houston Cougars quarterback Zeon Chriss-Gremillion and Texas Tech Red Raiders cornerback Macho Stevenson announced their commitments to the Wave on Wednesday, while Florida State Seminoles running back Jaylin Lucas made his decision official on Tuesday.
Chriss is a Louisiana kid -- graduating from Madison Prep Academy in Baton Rouge -- with some experience. The junior saw playing time in four matchups for the Cougars this season, ending the year with 108 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed 12 times for a total of 79 yards. Chriss appeared in 10 games for Houston in 2024, ending the year with 824 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Prior to his time in the Lone Star State, the three-star transfer spent two seasons with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. He found significant success in 2023, going 102-for-153 passing for 1,222 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. He added six more scores on the ground to go along with his 492 rushing yards.
Stevenson was part of a Red Raiders team that reached the College Football Playoff this year. Although he had significantly limited playing time due to injuries, the sophomore from Shreveport picked up one solo tackle on the season. He was poised to be a breakout star following an impressive redshirt freshman season in 2023 in which he posted 23 total tackles, two passes defended and one forced fumble. Once he gets back to full health, there's a great chance that he can be a difference-maker downfield for the Green Wave.
Lucas is the highest-ranked transfer portal player that Tulane has picked up so far, coming in as a three-star player and a top 50 portal running back. The Houma native appeared in all 12 games for the Seminoles this season, rushing for a total of 160 yards on 27 carries while also hauling in 11 catches for 88 yards. He saw limited action for Florida State in 2023.
The junior spent his first two seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers, finishing his time there with 116 carries for 546 yards and four touchdowns. He'll look to bounce back as a complimentary rusher alongside Jamauri McClure.
All three players will be fighting for significant playing time for the Green Wave next season. This is especially true for Chriss, as the team is trying to establish who its next quarterback will be.
Tulane will look to continue its hot streak in the portal over the next few days as it hosts more recruits on campus.
