Tulane Green Wave track and field faces its most ambitious weekend of the outdoor season with dual meets in two states.

The Tulane Green Wave track and field program will split its roster across two time zones for the biggest weekend of action of their outdoor campaign. As they near the end of their regular-season stretch with just two weekends remaining before the American Conference Outdoor Championships, they’ll send their squad to two meets in Texas and California.

Some of the Green Wave will head to the three-day Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium in Azusa, Calif., hosted by Azusa Pacific. The event will run from Thursday through Saturday. Thursday will feature distance sessions, with one at 9:00 am CT and an evening session at 7:10 pm CT; Friday will add field events at 1:00 pm CT to that same morning and afternoon distance session schedule; Saturday will start later with a 10:20 am morning session that will see the remainder of the running events, and field events will kick off at 11:00 am CT.

The other members of the Tulane track and field squad will compete in a two-day meet on Friday and Saturday, the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational at Carl Lewis International Complex in Houston. Friday kicks off with field events at 12:30 pm, with running events ending the day with a 5:00 start. Saturday’s field events will begin at 10:30 am, and running events will end the meet after kicking off at 1:30 pm. Those events will be streamed by Houston on YouTube.

The Green Wave are looking to build momentum off the 44 Farms Team Invitational they competed in this past weekend in College Station, Texas. Cara Salsberry continues to have a sensational season capped off by a program record at 59.22m in the hammer throw during the event. Maria Alduan took home the win in the 800m with a time of 2:15:21. Sofie Groeninger’s heptathlon total of 5,264 is the 43rd best in the nation.

Groeninger is among several Tulane athletes that are making national standings. Silas Kiptanui leads the Wave nationally with an 8:29.21 3000m steeplechase from the Raleigh Relays – good for second in the country. Also at the Raleigh Relays, Blezzin Kimutai is 39th among women NCAA athletes in the 5000m with a time of 15:54.81. Alex Sharp’s 10:29.91 mark in the 3000m steeplechase just inches in at 50th in the nation.

It’s been an electric outdoor campaign for the Wave this season, one they’ll look to build on in their dual meets this weekend. Following the two invitationals, Tulane will compete in the one-day LSU Alumni Gold event on Saturday, April 25.
