Dear Santa: Here's What Tulane Fans Want for Christmas This Year cover image

With Christmas right around the corner, here's a look at what will be on Green Wave fans' lists this year.

Christmas is quite literally hours away, so it seems like now's the perfect time to finalize those wishlists to Santa Claus himself -- as long as its not too late for the Big Guy to make the magic happen.

Every fanbase has a pretty generic wishlist: elite players and coaches, championship appearances in every sport and unlimited updates to athletic facilities. But still, there are a few wishes that are very... specific.

Dallas Cowboys fans want a time machine to take them back to the 1990s -- they've asked Santa for that for at least two decades. Meanwhile, Chicago White Sox fans aren't asking for much... just a little bit of enjoyable baseball. Fans of the Ole Miss Rebels are asking for their team to be significantly better than the LSU Tigers through Lane Kiffin's tenure with the latter.

What about Tulane fans? What do they want? Well, here's a pretty solid list of things the Green Wave faithful might want the most from Santa this year.

Another year with the entire 2025 team.

Tulane's 2025 football season might not have ended perfectly, but the team still claimed the American Conference Championship and reached the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

From dual-threat quarterback Jake Retzlaff to safety Jack Tchienchou, plenty of playmakers filled out the team's 2025 roster, and it's hard to believe that things will look different next season. Why not run it back better and stronger than before? Perhaps Jolly Old St. Nick could find a way to keep the entire team together by retaining anyone who enters the portal and working his magic to grant extra eligibility.

A March Madness appearance to end the 31-year drought.

Listen, its hard for American Conference teams to make it to the NCAA Tournament in college basketball -- there are just too many at-large teams trying to get in, and its hard to guarantee a spot for the American outside of the conference tournament champion.

If there's any year in recent memory in which the Green Wave has the best chance to reach March Madness for the first time since 1995, this is it. The team has performed well in non-conference play and could very well be a contender to earn the conference's tournament bid.

Some sort of easier way to park for football games.

Fans can't ask too much here. These are New Orleans streets, after all.

There's very limited availability in parking lots or garages on game day, so usually, street parking is the way to go. Sometimes, it's easy and convenient. Other days, you waste time driving in circles, mentally debate the risk of parking too close to a driveway or worry about getting sideswiped by a bus.

Of course, there's not much of a solution to this, other than to somehow squeeze in some more parking garages in an already-crowded area. Maybe Santa can work a little extra magic for this one.

Prosperity and blessings to former head coach Jon Sumrall (unless Florida plays Tulane).

Sumrall spent two seasons with the Green Wave before taking the open Florida Gators head coaching position in November.

However, in a sport where most moves seem to have a bit of drama attached, Sumrall's departure was incredibly amicable. He chose to stay with Tulane through the team's conference championship game and CFP appearance, coaching them with full attention while also trying to begin his tenure at Florida. Additionally, Sumrall and his family left a significant financial gift to the program to help kickstart its 2026 campaign.

It sounds like it's going to be hard for many fans to cheer against him.

Some permanent City Edition merchandise.

Tulane football's City Edition uniforms were a work of art, and game-worn jerseys and helmets sold out quickly online.

There are a few replica jersey options available, but there needs to be an entire line based on this uniform concept. T-shirts, mini-helmets, pajama pants, hats -- you name it, it needs to be done. It would truly be the gift that keeps on giving.
