From a record-setting margin of victory to a multifaceted backfield, discover how the Knights utilized elite depth and efficient quarterback play to dismantle Bethune-Cookman in their opener.

UCF got off to a hot start in the 2026-2027 season, steamrolling Bethune-Cookman 73-6 and posting the largest margin of victory in program history.

It didn't take long for UCF to crack first, jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game.

They carried this momentum throughout, dominating on both sides of the ball.

Here are the biggest three takeaways from the Knights' offensive performance.

1) Depth in the Backfield

Eight different players either caught a touchdown or rushed one in, showing the amount of talent littered throughout the offense.

The running back group was especially impressive, with Duke Watson, Landen Chambers, Agyeman Addae, and Taevion Swint all finding the endzone.

Watson started off his UCF tenure with a bang, taking his first touch 64 yards for a touchdown.

The former Louisville Cardinal displayed the breakaway speed and elusiveness that helped him lead the country in yards per carry a few years ago, finishing with 110 yards on just seven carries.

Efficiency was key in the run game, with UCF finishing the night with an average of 9.5 yards per carry.

The Knights' 360 rushing yards is an impressive metric for Week 1, as the team fronts a new-look offensive line.

Spread the Wealth Mentality

Starting quarterback Alonza Barnett III did not post gaudy numbers in his debut, mostly because of the lopsided score, but he did look comfortable and confident in the pocket.

Nine different players caught a pass from Barnett, with Jonathan Bibbs recording the pair's first touchdown in Orlando.

Throughout the offseason, players have referred to Barnett as the "point guard" of the offense, talking about his ability to keep everyone involved.

Sophomore wideout Caleb Rollerson also found the endzone later in the game, catching a pass from QB2 Keyone "Lights Out" Jenkins.

QB Room

All four quarterbacks on UCF's depth chart saw action, with Barnett giving UCF a comfortable-enough lead to sit by halftime.

Jenkins and freshman Rocco Marriott both found the endzone.

Marriott used his size to execute a QB sneak on the goalline, cashing in on his first collegiate drive.

Caleb Annett did not complete a pass, but recorded two rushes for nine yards.

Of course, keeping Barnett upright and healthy is the main priority, but seeing Jenkins and UCF's second unit look comfortable with schematics is a positive if he were to miss time.

Head coach Scott Frost has talked about the depth of the room, saying that he was impressed with how the secondary signal callers carried themselves in training camp.

"We passed this test," Frost said during the post-game press conference. "We're going to have a harder one in a week. We're going to have 12 chances to earn some respect. I think our players are looking forward to those opportunities."
