Could UCF Flip 3-Star WR Michael Stringer After Visit?
Nov 2, 2026 3:48 PM

After a stunning Space Game visit, three-star Western Kentucky commit Michael Stringer admits "anything is possible" as the Knights push to keep the local playmaker in-state.

The UCF Knights suffered their worst loss of the season last Friday, but off the gridiron, they impressed three-star wide receiver Michael Stringer during his official visit.

Stringer visited UCF last Thursday and watched the 10th annual Space Game on the sidelines. His relationship with the program has been growing since late September.

He unofficially visited campus on Sept. 26, the Knights' Big 12 home opener against the TCU Horned Frogs. Stringer saw quarterback Keyone Jenkins make program history, completing 19-for-20 passes to 10 receivers.

UCF extended an offer to the Plantation, Florida, native the same day it won its first conference home opener. Coach Scott Frost and his staff have competition, as Stringer is committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

The 6-foot wide receiver committed to Western Kentucky on June 27. He hasn't closed off his recruiting and has made it clear things can change.

Stringer told Knights247 and MagicRoundtable reporter Andrew Cherico, "anything is possible," and UCFSports' Brandon Helwig that his visit was "amazing."

He has the opportunity to stay in-state and play Power Four football. Western Kentucky, Tulane, East Carolina and Middle Tennessee State play in the Group of Five.

Stringer plays at American Heritage in Broward County. The senior has 465 yards and nine touchdowns in six games and is a consensus three-star across ESPN, 247 and Rivals.

Flipping recruits isn't a new challenge for the Knights. They flipped New Jersey linebacker Ian McDuffie from Syracuse and quarterback Rocco Marriott from James Madison last year.

Marriott's change earned recognition as one of the biggest recruiting steals. He's played a few snaps this season and scored his first career rushing touchdown in Week 1 against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

Frost values talent and productivity over seniority, which could benefit Stringer. Waden Charles started the final five games last season as a freshman and is breaking out as a lead receiver this year.

Tyren Hornes is the newest receiver to break out in Frost's rotation. He had a career game in UCF's historic upset over the then-No. 2 BYU Cougars, catching six passes for 137 yards and converting the game-winning two-point conversion.

Stringer should have a clear rise in the depth chart if he flips to the Knights next season. Josh Derry and Duane Thomas Jr. are likely departing seniors, leaving Charles and Hornes as the go-to targets for the new starter.

UCF building momentum with a recruit who's committed to another program is impressive. It shows the program can never be counted out.
