
The No. 1 Huskies will open up the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon against No. 16 Texas-San Antonio.
The top-seeded University of Connecticut women's basketball team will open up its NCAA Tournament run on Saturday afternoon (3 p.m. ET) against No. 16 Texas-San Antonio. The game will be played at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
The Huskies are the top overall seed in the tournament and are looking for their second consecutive national title. If the Huskies are able to secure the title, it will be the 13th in program history.
Any wins in the NCAA Tournament will also help the Huskies add onto their already impressive 50-game win streak, which is the fifth-longest in Division I women's basketball history.

Only one of those wins was by a single digit, a 3-point win over Michigan on Nov. 21. UConn’s average margin of victory during the streak is 36.4 points.
Five longest winning streaks in D-I history
As compiled by ESPN:
1) 111 games: UConn (2014-17)
UConn lost its second game of the 2014-15 season, falling 88-86 in overtime against Stanford on Nov. 17, 2014 before winning the next 37 games to finish 38-1 and win the national title. Then? They went 38-0 the next year, winning a second straight title in 2015-16. How'd they follow that up? By winning 36 consecutive games in 2016-17, only falling in the national title game by two against Mississippi State.

The 2008-09 Huskies were a perfect 39-0, winning the national championship. Then? they went 39-0 and won the national championship the next season. They started out the 2010-11 season at 12-0 before losing 71-59 to Stanford on Dec. 30.
3) 70 games: UConn (2001-03)
The 2001-2002 Huskies were 39-0 and won the national title. The next season? They also won the national title, but at just a mere 37-1. They suffered a 52-48 loss in the Big East final against Villanova, ending the win streak at 70.
4) 54 games: Louisiana Tech (1980-82)
One of the original great women's basketball programs, the Bulldogs won the national championship in 1982 with a 35-1 record.
5) 50 games: UConn (2025-26)
The 2024-25 Huskies went 37-3 and also won the national title for a 12th time. The last loss on the resume? An 80-76 defeat against Tennessee on Feb. 6, 2025.
