Gabby Williams is the latest former UConn star to join Unrivaled, the 3x3 winter league founded by fellow alums Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier and began play in 2025.

Williams, 29, is in her first season with the Golden State Valkyries of the WNBA after beginning her career with the Chicago Sky (2018-20) and Seattle Storm (2022-25). She missed the 2021 season after prioritizing her commitment to Team France in the Olympics in Tokyo and subsequently was suspended for the season by the Sky.

But Williams' career was carved in Storrs, Conn., where she played from 2014-18. Williams won the national title as a teammate of Stewart in her first two seasons – 2015 and 2016 – and Collier was part of that 2016 championship team as a freshman.

That season was the final of the four consecutive titles that Stewart won.

A 5-foot-11 forward, Williams signed a multi-year contract with Unrivaled on Thursday, with no financial terms released. Rookie Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx also will join Unrivaled for the 2027 season, which runs from January through March.

Of all of the great players head coach Geno Auriemma’s program has produced, Williams is one of the greatest.

Williams was inducted into the Huskies of Honor in 2018, the same year she was selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky.

That draft had a UConn flair, with Azura Stevens selected with the No. 6 pick by the Dallas Wings and Kia Nurse going to the New York Liberty with the No. 10 selection.

Unrivaled consists of eight teams with six players each for a total of 48. Last season, the second for Unrivaled, six UConn alums played in the league, meaning 12.5% of all roster spots went to former Huskies.

They were Stewart, Collier, Stevens, Paige Bueckers, Aaliyah Edwards and Tiffany Hayes.

Whichever Unrivaled team lands Williams will be getting a player currently enjoying a banner season.

A first-time WNBA All-Star in 2025, Williams is averaging 16.3 points and shooting 37.8% from 3-point range. Both are career highs.

Williams also was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Team after making 99 steals, which puts her second in league history.
