Prognosticators are starting to project where -- and if -- the Huskies will play in a bowl game this December.
It’s way too early to start projecting where college football teams will land in the series of bowl games that begin in mid-December, but that hasn’t stopped major media outlets from doing just that.
ESPN, USA Today and CBS Sports are among the organizations to update their projections after Week 4 games, putting down their experts’ thoughts on who will meet whom in the College Football Playoff games, as well as in the other postseason bowl games.
Let’s play along when it comes to the projections for the UConn Huskies, who are 2-2 on the season heading into their game Saturday against Syracuse. A team is bowl eligible when it reaches six wins on the season.
The bowl lineups
This season, teams are vying for a spot in one of 35 bowl games, plus 11 CFP games. They start Dec. 12 with the Cricket Celebration Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and conclude Jan. 25 when the national champion is crowned following the CFP title game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

So where could UConn head this December?
What the experts say
Projections from ESPN do not include UConn in any of the 35 bowl games.
CBS Sports puts the Huskies in the Frisco Football Classic against Louisiana on Dec. 15.
And USA Today lines up UConn in the Boca Raton Bowl against Kent State on Dec. 18.
What are these bowl games?
The Frisco Football Classic is not to be confused with the Frisco Bowl, to be played Dec. 23.
Both games will be played at The Star in Frisco, Texas, which is the home of the world headquarters and training facility of the Dallas Cowboys. The 91-acre complex includes the Ford Center, a 12,000-seat stadium.

Jason Snow-USA TODAY NetworkThe Frisco Bowl is the more established of the two games. It was first played in Frisco in 2017 after being formed three years earlier as the Miami Beach Bowl and subsequently relocated.
The Frisco Football Classic originated in 2025 and was known as the Xbox Bowl under a one-year sponsorship agreement. It replaced the Bahamas Bowl in the bowl lineup last year.
This December’s edition of the Boca Raton Bowl will be the 13th and played at Flagler Credit Union Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla., on the campus of FAU.
First-year UConn coach Jason Candle’s Toledo team played in the Boca Raton Bowl to end the 2025 season and lost to Louisville, 27-22.
The past two seasons, UConn played in the Fenway Bowl in Boston to cap a pair of 9-4 seasons.
In 2024, the Huskies defeated North Carolina 27-14. Last season, they lost 41-16 to Army.
