The guard helped lead the Huskies to an epic comeback over Providence on Wednesday.

University of Connecticut men's basketball guard Silas Demary Jr. made program history on Wednesday night as the Huskies rallied for an epic win over Providence in Big East play.

The Huskies trailed by 10 points at the half and 11 points with three minutes to go before rallying to win 103-98 in overtime. They are now 15-1 and 5-0 inside league play. UConn is ranked No. 4 in the nation and looks like a national title contender.

Demary had 23 points, 15 assists and five steals in the victory, becoming the first player in team history to have a 20+ point, 15+ assist game. When you think of the great Connecticut guards (Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Kemba Walker, and Shabazz Napier), that's a rather amazing accomplishment.

Demary was one of five players in double-figures for the Huskies, including freshman Braylon Mullins, who led the way with 24.

About Demary

A junior from Raleigh, N.C., Demary spent the last two seasons at Georgia before coming to Storrs. He averaged 13.5 ppg for the Bulldogs a season ago to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

He's upped his assists to 6.3 ppg this season while also getting 4.4 boards. He averages 9.9 ppg and pairs with Alex Karaban as true leaders on this roster.

Demary is also shooting 80.4 percent from the foul line and 41.4 percent from three-point range.

Up next for the UConn men

The Huskies will host DePaul on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET. They beat the Blue Demons 72-54 earlier this season.
