Playing without standout quarterback Joe Fagnano, the University of Connecticut football team lost the Fenway Bowl 41-16 on Saturday afternoon in Boston, Mass.
Though the loss to Army was disappointing, it was still a banner season for the Huskies, who have won nine games in back-to-back campaigns. In addition to the actual wins and losses, Fagnano wowed fans everywhere with a 28:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and receiver Skyler Bell was the first Huskies player ever to earn Associated Press First-Team All-America honors.
Both players are expected to get NFL opportunities, and Bell should be one of the top receivers drafted.
Running back Cam Edwards, who ran for 1,240 yards and 15 touchdowns himself, delivered an optimistic message after the bowl game concluded saying "The sky's the limit for UConn football... UConn football is back."
A Connecticut native, Edwards has spent four years with the Huskies, running for 2,690 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has 31 total scrimmage touchdowns and has become one of the most dynamic players to ever play for UConn.
He still has one year of eligibility left and it remains to be seen if he'll stick in Storrs when the transfer portal opens up this week. He's already declared for the portal, but that doesn't mean he's definitely going to leave.

Head coach Jim Mora bolted for Colorado State earlier in December and the Huskies countered by hiring Jason Candle of Toledo. Edwards says the sky is the limit for the program, and Candle will be the man tasked with justifying that sentiment.
Candle is the winningest coach in Toledo history (81 wins), and he won two MAC championships. Toledo went 8-4 this season and had one of the top defenses in the entire country.
