Cayden Suchy has left Storrs after two years and he found his new home on Thursday.
We've known that University of Connecticut standout pitcher Cayden Suchy was transferring out of the Huskies baseball program for a handful of weeks now, but on Thursday, we officially learned his new home.
While Suchy had been linked to a handful of SEC schools in various speculative reports, he landed with Florida State, per a report from Brett Nevitt of Noles 247.
Suchy earned Big East Pitcher of the Year honors in 2026 and will obviously leave a gaping hole at the front of the UConn rotation. He will strengthen a Seminoles team that lost in its own regional this season. Florida State went 40-19 in total, missing out on an opportunity to play in the College World Series.

Suchy, 20, is from Virginia, where he played at Dominion High School in Sterling. A two-way player, he twice was named All-State as an outfielder. As a senior, he was an All-State pitcher and the Virginia Player of the Year....
He started for UConn on Feb. 14 against Kansas State – an offensive dynamo – and drew praise from the national media for his performance. In six innings, he allowed two runs on four hits and a walk and struck out nine batters in a 5-2 loss.
He followed up with outings against Arizona (5-4 loss) and UNC Wilmington (2-1 loss), and he threw a combined 13 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out 17.
He didn’t figure in any of the decisions.
Suchy finished the season with a 5-3 record and an ERA of 2.82. In 89 1/3 innings, he struck out 105 batters – a 29% strikeout rate – and averaged 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings. He walked 23 in his 15 starts.
His regular-season conference stats propelled him to Big East Pitcher of the Year honors. Suchy tallied a 5-0 record and 1.81 ERA in Big East play to go with a 0.92 WHIP. He gave up 34 hits and struck out 54 batters over 44 2/3 innings.
About UConn baseball in 2026
The Huskies went 32-26 this season, also going 15-6 in Big East play. They lost both games of the Big East tournament, ending their season on May 21.
The next thing for the Huskies is seeing if any players get drafted in July's MLB Draft. Multiple UConn alums have played in the big leagues, including World Series MVP (2017) George Springer, who is currently with the Toronto Blue Jays.
