University of Connecticut football standout Skyler Bell delivered a nice message on social media Saturday after the Huskies dropped a 41-16 contest against Army in the Fenway Bowl. It was his final game in a Huskies uniform.
He said:
Haven’t had twitter downloaded on my phone this season, I appreciate all the love UConn Nation it’s surreal, I just wanted to come on here and say Thank You UConn Nation from the bottom of my heart for an unforgettable 2 years. It’s been a fun ride
Bell, who's expected to be taken in the upcoming NFL Draft, played sparingly on Saturday against the Black Knights. He received some grief for making just a brief cameo in the bowl game, but our own Jami Leabow says he still deserves to be appreciated.
He did not have a catch on the afternoon and UConn finished the season at 9-4.
Simply put, Bell put together one of the greatest seasons in UConn football history. He had 101 catches for 1,278 yards and was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press, marking the first time that any Huskies player has ever earned that distinction.
He was one of only two players in the country to have 100 catches or more and was one of only three players to have 1,200 yards or more. He also had 13 receiving touchdowns.
