Skyler Bell is going to get the call for the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
Because of an injury to quarterback Lamar Jackson, it looks like UConn Huskies football alum Joe Fagnano is going to be active for his first NFL game on Sunday night as the Baltimore Ravens take on the Atlanta Falcons.
And we also know now that Huskies alum Skyler Bell is going to see his first action on Monday night when the Buffalo Bills take on the Los Angeles Rams on 'Monday Night Football.'
Bell spoke about the news, saying that he's very grateful for the opportunity and that's ready to go. He's getting this opportunity because of an injury to receiver Joshua Palmer.
Not only is it a big stage on 'Monday Night Football,' it's a possible Super Bowl preview that has a lot of attention around it. The Bills are currently 3-1 and atop the AFC East while the Rams are 2-2. Despite the .500 record, they are considered by many to be the most talented team in the NFL on both sides of the ball.
Bell, who was named an All-American last season at UConn, was taken by the Bills in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. He didn't play in the first two preseason games because of a groin injury, but had seven catches for 49 yards, as well as 28 rushing yards and a touchdown, in the third and final preseason game. That performance was solid, but it didn't earn him any regular season snaps yet. Monday, he'll get his chance.

Bell helped the Huskies to a 9-4 record in 2025 under previous head coach Jim Mora. Playing alongside Fagnano, he had 101 catches for 1,278 yards, and he became the first-ever Associated Press First-Team All-American in program history. He was also a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the best pass catcher in the nation.
He was one of only two players in the country to have 100 catches or more and was one of only three players to have 1,200 yards or more. His 13 touchdowns were second nationally. He out-performed the likes of Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State), who is regarded as the best current receiver in the country. Smith could end up being the No. 1 pick in the draft in 2027 and may end up as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy as well.
As for the current Huskies?
UConn is coming off a 34-20 win over Temple on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. With the win, the Huskies are now 3-3 on the season and they'll hit the bye week next week before taking on UMass.
