The freshman returned from concussion protocol to help UConn defeat Creighton on Saturday.

The University of Connecticut men's basketball team trounced Big East rival Creighton on Saturday night in Omaha, Neb., winning 85-58.

With the win, the No. 2 Huskies are now 21-1 and 11-0 inside conference play. The Bluejays are 12-10 and 6-5 within the league. The Huskies have won 17 straight games.

Freshman Braylon Mullins returned after missing a game because of concussion protocol to lead the team in scoring. The Indiana native had 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range.

As noted by Katie Sharp on social media, he's also doing things that no other player in the Big East is doing in conference play.

Braylon Mullins in 10 Big East games:

2pt FG: 20/33 (60.6%)

3pt FG: 27/66 (40.9%)

Mullins is the only Big East player shooting at least 60% on 2s and 40% on 3s in conference play (min. 20 2pt FGA and 20 3pt FGA)

A potential NBA Draft lottery pick if he leaves school, Mullins is averaging 11.7 while playing more than 25 minutes a night. He missed nearly the entire first month of the season with an ankle injury but has turned into an integral part of Dan Hurley's rotation. He's scored double-figures in four of his last five contests.

Aside from Mullins, Alex Karaban and Silas Demary both had 15 points.

The No. 1-ranked UConn women are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host No. 15 Tennessee at noon ET. The Volunteers are one of the most storied programs in the women's game, having won eight national championships and producing Hall of Famers like Candace Parker.

Tennessee is the last team to have beaten UConn, nearly one year ago.

Per head coach Geno Auriemma, from our game preview:

“Kind of like we talked about before the Notre Dame game. These are games that fans love, players love to play in,” Auriemma told reporters Saturday. “They’re games that give you an opportunity to compete against somebody that’s not in your league, that was an NCAA tournament team, that plays a different style from another conference. You want to do all of those things before you get to the NCAA Tournament so you can say, 'We’ve seen that.'”

We'll have a full recap after the game here on UConn Roundtable.
