After losing multiple big men from this season's roster, the Huskies could be bringing in the Stanford transfer.
According to a report from recruiting analyst Sam Keyser, the UConn men's basketball team is hosting an interesting transfer portal candidate on Wednesday.
VISIT NEWS: Stanford transfer Oskar Giltay visited St. Louis yesterday and is visiting UConn today, source tells @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot-10 big man is an elite rebounder and defender who spent one season at Stanford. He averaged 3.3PPG, 4.1RPG and 1.2BPG while shooting nearly 63% from the floor this season.
Giltay is a Belgium native who played in 32 games for the Cardinal this past season. He stands 6'10 and is listed at 235 pounds. He played just under 15 minutes a game for Stanford.
About the UConn situation
The Huskies are in need of big men, as Tarris Reed Jr. (graduation) and Eric Reibe (transfer portal - USC), are both gone. The question just becomes then about finding the right fit for Dan Hurley's program.
The fact that Giltay is a good rebounder is important, because the Big East is so physical that you can't afford to get beat on the glass - especially from the center position.
In those almost 15 minutes a game last season, Giltay attempted more than two 3-pointers, meaning he has the ability to stretch the floor in a way that might be desirable to Hurley offensively.

Hurley currently has these players on the books for the 2026-27 season.
Returning players: Silas Demary Jr., Braylon Mullins, Jayden Ross
Transfers: Najai Hines (Seton Hall), Nikolas Khamenia (Duke)
High school class of '26: Junior County, Colben Landrew
Undeclared: Jacob Ross
Solo Ball will undergo wrist surgery and miss the entire season. That was announced on Monday.

--The NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday night with the first round, and while no Connecticut players are expected to be taken then, it could be a big weekend for the program.
All-American receiver Skyler Bell is expected to be a mid-round pick while quarterback Joe Fagnano could also be selected in the late round. The two teamed up to rewrite the record books in Storrs, leading the Huskies to a nine-win season and a berth in the Fenway Bowl in 2025.
--The Huskies women's basketball program announced a two-year rivalry series with Michigan on Wednesday. Ironically, Michigan was the only team in the regular season that UConn failed to beat by double digits.
