The Charlie Stevens hire has been finalized, but there's been some additional movement on the staff front as well.

On Wednesday, the University of Connecticut men's basketball program made multiple staff moves official, announcing Charlie Stevens as the team's next general manager, Andrew Hurley as the assistant GM and Connor Creech as the video coordinator/analytics director.

The Stevens move is not surprising, as we heard that he would be hired over the weekend. He spent the previous five years working for the San Antonio Spurs, ending his tenure there as the Director of Grassroots Scouting. Still young, he graduated college in 2021, but he comes in with real NBA experience and overseas relationships, something the program reportedly wanted in its GM hire.

There's a lot to like about the Stevens hire, but there are some questions, and we addressed some of them here.

As for Hurley, he is the son of head coach Dan Hurley. A former walk-on player who was part of the 2023 and 2024 national title teams, he has been a graduate assistant for each of the last two seasons.

Now, the program says he will act as a liaison between the administration and the program, and he'll have his hand in several aspects of the Huskies behind-the-scenes business, including NIL strategy, operations and the roster.

Creech was with the program last season, helping them advance to the national title game as a graduate assistant. He played for four years at Northern Colorado.

UConn lost to Michigan in that national title game. It was their third title game appearance in four years.

--St. John's has added fifth-year senior Reed Bailey to the roster. Anything that makes St. John's better is inherently bad for UConn, so this is worth watching. Bailey spent three years at Davidson, becoming an All-Atlantic 10 selection before spending one year at Indiana in the Big Ten. He scored just over 8.0 ppg with the Hoosiers while also pulling down four rebounds.

Bailey will help cover up losses of Zuby Ejiofor and Dillon Mitchell (NBA), as well as the season-ending injury to Donnie Freeman, who was an impact transfer from Syracuse.

--Another "way too early" edition of ESPN's bracketology was released on Tuesday and the Huskies were, once again, given a No. 3 seed in the projections. That No. 3 seed likely comes from the talent lost from the roster (Alex Karaban, Tarris Reed, Solo Ball - injury), as well as the extremely difficult non-conference schedule, which is sure to bring about some additional regular season losses.
