The game will take place on Thanksgiving Eve at Madison Square Garden.

According to a new report from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the University of Connecticut men's basketball team is set to take on Duke in a neutral site contest in 2026-27.

Per Rothstein:

NEWS: UConn and Duke are finalizing an agreement to meet in a neutral site game on Thanksgiving Eve in Las Vegas, according to multiple sources.

Given the history between the two programs and the date of the contest, this should be one of the best - and most watched - games of the entire college basketball season.

The game will be an important one for UConn, as it has a chance to elevate the program's overall schedule and give them an impact win that will eventually impress a March Madness committee.

And whichever broadcast partner gets the game will also be thrilled, as this is a rematch of one of the best games of this past NCAA Tournament - which was famously won by UConn.

About UConn in 2026-27

The Huskies advanced to the national championship game this past season and still figure to be very good next year, but they will certainly look different. Big man Tarris Reed Jr. is likely to be selected in the NBA Draft, as is outgoing senior Alex Karaban.

Starting shooting guard Solo Ball is out for the season because of left wrist surgery, meaning that the Huskies need to replace three starters. Backup big man Eric Reibe has also left via the transfer portal, as has Jaylin Stewart.

The Huskies have brought in multiple transfer portal pieces, including the newly-signed Nils Machowski, and will pair those additions with the returning Braylon Mullins and Silas Demary Jr.

About Duke in 2026-27

Like UConn, Duke is set to lose a good number of talented pieces next season, including Cameron Boozer, who might end up being the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

The Blue Devils were the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, losing to Connecticut in the Elite 8.
