Paige Bueckers, Caroline Ducharme and Azzi Fudd turned jewelry designers to commemorate team bond, title.

It apparently takes a champion to design a highly personal and meaningful championship ring.

Three of them, actually,

UConn women’s basketball used a special event to unveil its 2024-25 national championship ring, which was designed by Paige Bueckers, Caroline Ducharme and Azzi Fudd. Bueckers, who was taken No. 1 in the WNBA draft this spring by the Dallas Wings and named Rookie of the Year, returned to Storrs, Conn., for the ceremony.

The ring is huge, and it would have to be to incorporate its extensive list of design elements, starting with the 12 stones to represent each of the dozen national championships won by the program. It is set in silver, with a gold replica of the championship trophy on the top along with UCONN spelled out in blue stones.

Bueckers called herself “a huge silver girlie."

“We all collaborated. We wanted mostly silver, but we got the national championship trophy as the gold, of course,” she said in a video walking fans through the ring design.

Sharing the same ring celebrating the 82-59 win over South Carolina will tie a close-knit team together forever.

"The power of friendship, which is the reason that we did win it,” Bueckers said.

"We just went off of straight vibes, and we stuck together through it all."

The top of the ring comes off and can be put on chain and worn as a pendant. When that piece is removed, visible is something very special.

“That’s a piece of the basketball that we won it with on the inside,” Bueckers said.

“So, a total summary and a beautiful masterpiece of the national championship journey," she continued.

The ring has the Huskies logo, and each player’s name and number, of course, along with special engravings. That includes game scores, as well as the phrases “the power of friendship” and “vibes.”

"And on the inside of the ring where you put your finger, we have the national championship score, the Final Four score, the Elite Eight score, and the Sweet 16 score. So, kind of the journey to get there.”
