On Wednesday, the three newest members of the University of Connecticut women's basketball team learned their uniform numbers for the upcoming campaign, and the news was released on social media.

As noted by the UConn Women's Basketball account on "X," Marine Dursus will wear No. 5, Jovana Popovic will wear No. 13 and Olivia Vukosa will wear No. 25.

If that No. 5 looks familiar, it should: it's the same number that Paige Bueckers wore at Connecticut before becoming the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft in 2025.

Even with four months remaining until the start of exhibition contests, the excitement is building for the newest members of Geno Auriemma's team.

Our own Jami Leabow profiled the 5-foot-10 Dursus back in May, so the following comes from a portion of that article: 

From Strasbourg, France she has been a member of the French Youth National Team since 2021. She has a gold medal from the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket competition, silver from the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship, and bronze from the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup and U18 European Championship...

In the 2025 U20 Women’s EuroBasket competition, she averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Dursus also has played professionally in France since 2022. This season, playing for Angers of the La Boulangère Wonderligue, she had averages of 9.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists. She shot 41.2 percent from long distance and 52.9 percent overall.

Popovic was signed earlier this year as well - out of Serbia - and is set to be the first Serbian to play at UConn. She's a 5-foot-8 guard that has significant international experience, as noted by Leabow:

She made her debut in 2021 at the FIBA U16 Women's European Challengers. She debuted with the senior national team at the 2025 FIBA Women's Eurobasket.

She has also played for for ZKK Art Basket in Belgrade in the First League of Serbia.

Signed in October of 2025, Vukosa is the most important recruit for the Class of 2026 to the Huskies.

The 247Sports composite ranked the 6-foot-4 Vukosa as the No. 1 center and the No. 4 overall player in the nation at the time of her commitment.

In the mix for Vukosa were Ohio State and Texas – which had her in for official visits – as well as Kentucky, LSU, North Carolina and South Carolina. South Carolina beat the Huskies in the Final Four this past season.

Of Croatian heritage, Vukosa played at Christ the King High School in New York. She has represented Croatia on the international stage. 

In August of 2025, she was part of Croatia’s roster at the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket Championships, B Division, and averaged 15.6 points over seven games. She shot 42.1% from the field and 96.2% from the foul line.
