After consecutive nine-win seasons and appearances in the Fenway Bowl, the University of Connecticut football program is set to embark on its first season under new head coach Jason Candle.

Previous head coach Jim Mora took off for Colorado State and Candle was hired after a successful 10-year run at Toledo.

While Candle is undoubtedly a good coach, he's got some real questions to answer. Namely? How does he replace starting quarterback Joe Fagnano and record-setting receiver Skyler Bell, who was named an All-American before getting drafted in the fourth round by the Buffalo Bills?

If he's going to do those things, he'll have to hope that he hit on some stars in the transfer portal, which was churning once again this offseason.

The Huskies will begin their season on Sept. 5 against Lafayette before playing a very difficult schedule overall. UConn will see Atlantic Coast Conference foes Syracuse and North Carolina while also playing Maryland of the Big Ten. On top of that, they'll play Old Dominion and James Madison, the latter of which got to the College Football Playoff in 2026.
