The recruiting of the high school class of 2027 is ongoing on as the current team starts to prepare for the upcoming season.
UConn head coach Dan Hurley might not be finished tinkering with his 2026-27 roster, but he and his staff have turned the focus to recruiting for the following season.
Kamsi Awaka, a center from Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., announced on X that the Huskies have him in sight.
“Blessed to receive a Division 1 offer from The University of Connecticut!,” he posted Sunday night.
The 247Sports composite lists Awaka as a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 11 center and the No. 71 overall player in the Class of 2027.
Per 247Sports, he also holds offers from Arizona, Maryland and Georgia Tech.
His older brother, Tobe Awaka, played two seasons at Tennessee (2022-24), followed by two at Arizona.

More on King Gibson
The 247Sports composite lists Gibson, a five-star recruit, as the No. 5 player in the nation. In play during the regular season on the Nike EYBL Scholastic circuit, he had averages of 15 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 17 games. He shot 45.6% percentage from 3-point range.
His list of college offers include Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, North Carolina State and UConn, which appear to be his upper echelon. But should he want to expand his search, his offer sheet is extensive, filled with power-conference schools including Duke and NCAA champion Michigan.

Rebilas-Imagn ImagesHe told Jamie Shaw of Rivals for an article posted Monday that the UConn offer is a special one and that he plans to make an official visit.
“It means a lot to get that offer. They definitely have a rich program history with the players that have been there, the championships they’ve won, the coaches," he said.
"They have a great program that I’ve been watching a lot over the last couple of years, just seeing them develop the players who go there and them going to the NBA and having early success. I feel like the fit is there, too.
"I feel like they just let their guys play. Their wings are running off screens and pin downs and their guards using ball screens and making reads. There is some transition in there and they play defense, they play hard all the time. I want to be around players that play hard.”
