The Huskies trailed big, rallied, and then ultimately fell against Oregon.

The University of Washington men's basketball team concluded its regular season with a very disappointing 85-79 loss on the road at the University of Oregon on Saturday night.

With the defeat, the Huskies end the regular season at 15-16 and 7-13 inside Big Ten Conference play. The Ducks went 12-19 and 5-15.

The Huskies will now prep for the Big Ten Conference tournament, which begins on Tuesday in Chicago.

Here's what you need to know.

Late-game woes

Washington led 79-76 with less than 15 seconds to play. However, Oregon hit a three-pointer to tie the game, and ended up taking a lead on a foul that turned the shot into a four-point play.

The Huskies trailed 80-79 when they committed a turnover on the ensuing possession. Head coach Danny Sprinke earned a double-technical and was ejected, and Oregon connected on five-of-six free-throws down the stretch to take the 85-79 lead with just seconds to go.

Inside the numbers

--Washington trailed by 14 at the half before coming back to outscore Oregon 49-41 in the second stanza. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

--Four Washington players were in double-figures, including Hannes Steinbach, who had 26 points and 13 rebounds. This came after his history-making performance against USC.

--Wesley Yates III and Zoom Diallo each had 14 while Quimari Peterson had 11.

--The Huskies shot 47 percent from the floor and only 31 percent from three, but they were 100 percent (16-of-16) at the foul line.

--Oregon hit 11 threes in the victory.

--UW out-rebounded the Ducks by five and committed only nine turnovers.

How the upcoming Big Ten Tournament works

Unlike the women's tournament, all 18 Big Ten teams make the conference tournament. It's a single-elimination tournament that begins on Tuesday and culminates on Sunday right before the NCAA Tournament selection show.

Seeds 16 and 17 play each other on Tuesday, as do seeds 15 and 18. The winners from those games advance to Wednesday, when seeds 9-14 open play. Thursday features seeds 5-8 opening up and then Friday, brings seeds 1-4 into action.

How UW shapes up

The Huskies finished in a regular season tie for 13th in the Big Ten with USC. They will open up play in the league tournament on Wednesday at a time to still be determined.

We will have full coverage once the entirety of the bracket has been released.
