The University of Washington women's basketball team finished the regular season with a one-point win against Oregon on Sunday afternoon to finish the campaign at 20-9 overall and 10-8 inside Big Ten play.
As a result, the Huskies earned the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, March 4 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Here's what you need to know:
UCLA is the No. 1 seed while Iowa is the No. 2, Michigan is No. 3 and Minnesota is No. 4. Ohio State is No. 5, Maryland is No. 6, Michigan State is No. 7, Washington is No. 8, USC is No. 9, Illinois is No. 10, Oregon is No. 11, Nebraska is No. 12, Indiana is No. 13, Purdue is No. 14 and Wisconsin is No. 15.
The top 15 teams make the tournament, so Rutgers, Northwestern and Penn State did not qualify.
Seeds 10-15 will open up play on March 4 while seeds 5-9 begin play on March 5, playing the winners of the March 4 matchups. The top four seeds play on March 6 against the winners from the day before. The championship is Sunday, March 8.
Washington will play on Thursday, March 5 against ninth-seeded Southern Cal. Game time set for 9 a.m. PT. The game will air on the Big Ten Network.
The Huskies played USC earlier in the season, falling 59-50 on Dec. 7. USC was ranked No. 16 in the nation at that point, but ended up finishing 17-12 overall. They lost their last three games of the regular season, even losing against Penn State, who isn't in the tournament field.
Not according to ESPN's matchup predictor, which gives UW only a 36.9 percent chance to beat the Trojans.
At 6-12 in the league, the Huskies are currently ranked No. 13 in the Big Ten standings. If they keep that position, they would qualify for the men's tournament and would play on Day 1.
--Washington running back Jonah Coleman spent the last few days at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, giving an extremely impressive answer to a question about pass protection.
--The Washington men retired Detlef Schrempf's No. 22 in a ceremony on Saturday. Our own Teren Kowatsch was there with all the coverage on Schrempf's big day.
