The Huskies beat the Torreros by 30 on Monday night.

The University of Washington men's basketball team, following a difficult loss against Seattle University, rolled by 30 points over visiting San Diego on Monday night at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.

The 86-56 contest moved the Huskies to 8-4 while the loss dropped San Diego to 5-7.

Here's what you need to know.

Balanced offensive attack leads the way

The Huskies got double-digit scoring efforts from three players in the win, with Hannes Steinbach leading the way with 21. He also added 14 rebounds and went 8-of-10 at the foul line. He added three steals for good measure.

Zoom Diallo had 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting while Desmond Claude had 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

Inside the box score

--Washington shot 47 percent from the floor (29-of-62) while San Diego shot at 37 percent (21-of-57).

--Neither team shot well from three-point range, with the Huskies hitting just 5-of-21 and the Torreros going 8-of-26.

--Washington shot 79 percent at the foul line, going 23-of-29.

--The Huskies out-rebounded San Diego 46-28.

--Washington forced 18 turnovers while only committing 12.

--The Huskies dominated in the paint, scoring 44 points there. San Diego had just 16.

--Washington had a 20-point lead at half and then outscored San Diego by 10 after the break.

What else worked well

Any time you get to the foul line 29 times, you've done something right. Any time you can hit 23 foul shots in a game, you have set yourself up for success. If the Huskies can make it a priority to get to the lane and force the issue offensively, they'll have a chance to produce better offensive outputs in conference play.

And how about the play of Nikola Dezpina? Playing just his second career game, he had seven points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

Need for improvement

On the other side of things? The Huskies can't go 5-of-21 from three-point range (24 percent) if they want to play well within the Big 10. The arc is too important a part of today's game for Washington to be almost non-existent there.

The Huskies' starters went just 4-of-11.

Up next

The Huskies will be back in action after the Christmas holiday when they host Utah at 8 p.m. PT. They'll be back inside Big 10 play on Jan. 4 when they travel to Indiana. The Huskies are 1-1 in league play.
