Gavin Williams, who has the Huskies as one of the final teams he's considering, will announce his decision May 17

The Washington Huskies football team already has one of the top 2027 recruiting classes in the country and it could get another big boost in talent here in the coming weeks.

Specifically, the Huskies' '27 recruiting class can add another blue-chip prospect on the defensive side of things.

It's been known that Washington has been one of the final teams being considered by four-star safety Gavin Williams.

According to a post on "X" from Rivals.com reporter Hayes Fawcett, the Huskies will find out if they're "the" team Williams will commit to in the next week. Williams will announce his commitment on May 17.

Williams will choose between Washington, Notre Dame, UCLA and Southern California (USC) among his final teams.

Williams currently attends Damien High School in La Verne, Calif., and is ranked as the 159th-best overall player, 11th-best safety and 14th-best player from California in his class, per the 247Sports Composite. If he were to commit to UW, he would be the highest-ranked overall player in the class.

According to Rivals.com, Williams is ranked as the 129th-best player, ninth-best safety and 13th-best player in California. According to Rivals' prediction model, UW has the lowest odds among the Damien safety's finalists to earn a commitment from him. They have less than a 1% chance to land him, per the site. Notre Dame has a 1.2% chance to land him, UCLA has a 1.4% chance and USC has a 93.4% chance to earn a commitment from him.

Rivals isn't the only website to believe that Williams will be heading to the Trojans.

247Sports' Crystal Ball projection has Williams at a 100% chance to commit to USC.

The Huskies currently have 13 commitments in the '27 class: four-star defensive lineman Jon Ioane, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf, four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope, three-star tight end Zach Albright, three-star cornerback/athlete Maurice Williams, three-star star running back Jeremy Adeyanju, three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell, three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei and three-star linebackers Isaiah Leilua, Ethan Coach, Justin Coach and Titus Osterman.

In addition to Williams, Washington was also named as a finalist by four-star wide receiver Tre Moore and three-star defensive back/athlete Jeovanni Henley.

The Huskies' 27 recruiting class currently ranks 12th in the country, per 247Sports.

The 11 teams ranked ahead of Washington are, in order: Oklahoma, Texxas A&M, UCLA, USC, Florida, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Kentucky, Ohio State and Miami.
