The Huskies' search for a signal-caller includes several blue chippers and a local recruit.
The Washington Huskies football team is looking to continue its amazing recruiting success in the Class of 2028.
The Huskies have had noticeably more success on the recruiting trail since head coach Jedd Fisch took over the program ahead of the 2024 season. UW's 2026 class ranked 12th in the country, the highest ranking from 247Sports in program history, and the 2027 recruiting class currently ranks 25th in the country, per 247Sports.
Washington seems to be casting a wide net for the '28 recruits, including several of the top blue-chip prospects in the nation.
One of those players, five-star edge rusher Jalanie George, has already named the Huskies as one of his finalists.
Washington has also made pushes to land several impressive quarterbacks in the 2028 class, including several five-star signal-callers.
Here's a breakdown of several of the notable quarterbacks who have been extended offers from the Dawgs.
Donald Tabron II, five-star, Cass Technical (Detroit)
One of the biggest wins of the 2026 recruiting cycle for the Huskies was landing four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf. The program also guaranteed he would have a comfortable and familiar target in the class, and also earned a commitment from three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney. Both players attend Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz.
Washington attempted the same method by offering five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II and four-star wide receiver Mylan Griggs, who both attend Cass Technical in Detroit.
Tabron is ranked as the 31st-best overall player, third-best quarterback and third-best player in Michigan in the Class of '28, per the 247Sports composite.
If offering the quarterback and wideout had an impact on the former, it hasn't shown up in the recruiting predictions so far.
Tabron has commanded a laundry list of offers from some of the top programs in the country, and Texas A&M appears the early front-runners.
Christopher Vargas, five-star, St. John's Prep (Danvers, Mass.)
The Huskies might not be a front-runner for Tabron, but they have been identified as one of the finalists for another blue-chip signal caller, Christopher Vargas.
Vargas is ranked as the seventh-best player in the nation, best quarterback and best player in Massachusetts in the class, per the 247Sports composite.
Four teams have emerged as the early front-runners for Vargas, including Washington, Ohio State, Southern California (USC) and UCLA.
Despite UW being one of the final four teams being considered, it seems like the Buckeyes are already the front-runners. Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong of Rivals have both already made early predictions for Vargas to commit to Ryan Day and Ohio State.
Even if Vargas commits to Ohio State, that doesn't necessarily mean that the program is out of the running. In the Class of '26 alone, the Huskies flipped five-star offensive lineman Kodi Greene from Oregon and four-star wide receiver Jordan Clay from Baylor.
AJ Tuivaiave, three-star, Graham-Kapowsin (Graham, Wash.)
If Washington is unable to land either of the aforementioned blue-chippers in Tabron or Vargas, there's a signal-caller right in its own backyard it can defer to.
Three-star quarterback AJ Tuivaiave attends Graham-Kapowsin High School in Graham, Wash., roughly 50 miles away from Husky Stadium.
Tuivaiave is ranked as the 362nd-best overall player, 25th-best quarterback and fifth-best player in Washington, per the 247Sports composite.
According to his player page on 247Sports, Washington is the only team the 6-foot-3, 240-pound QB is "warm" on. On3 Sports has the Huskies with the likeliest odds to land him at 15.7%, just ahead of Oregon at 13.7%.
