The Huskies are one of the top six teams being considered by five-star edge rusher Jalanie George

The Washington Huskies football team is still looking to put the final touches on its recruiting class for 2027.

The group of Class of '27 recruiting committed to Washington currently rank 15th in the country, per 247Sports. The Huskies can get a bump in that number in the coming weeks with the impending decisions of various recruits.

Four-star wide receivers Tre Moore, Osani Gayles and Dontay Tyson Jr., four-star safety Gavin Williams, four-star defensive lineman Tevita Nonu, four-star interior offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough and three-star defensive back Jeovanni Henley are just several of the highly-touted and/or versatile '27 players that have Washington among the final teams they're considering.

While the Huskies are hoping for an influx of commitments from that group as well as additional '27 players, they're still keeping an eye on players in the future. UW has already been identified as one of the top teams being considered by one of the best players in the Class of 2028, edge-rusher Jalanie George.

The five-star edge rusher released his list of his top six teams Friday per comments made to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.com.

George's six teams are: Washington, Auburn, Ohio State, Miami, Oklahoma and Florida.

George, listed at 6-foot-4 1/2 and 245 pounds, is ranked as the sixth-best player in the country, second-best edge and best player in Arizona in the Class of '28 per the 247Sports Composite.

Rivals.com is even higher on George. The website has him ranked as the fourth-best player in the country, the best edge rusher in the class and the best '28 player from Arizona.

George attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz. The state has been a popular recruiting hotbed for current UW head coach Jedd Fisch back to his days as the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats.

Two Huskies commits from the Class of '27, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, both attend Desert Edge High School.

In his sophomore season last fall, George posted 54 total tackles, including 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Director of amateur scouting for 247Sports, Andrew Ivins, had the following scouting report on George back on Aug. 11, 2025:

Productive front-line defender with a promising frame. Instinctive against the run and will slide off blocks to make stops. Still developing pass-rush cadence, but can hound QBs with length and burst. Not one to bail on a play and will clean up the trash. Likely to offer alignment flex as he could eventually 280+ pounds. Must keep progressing, but has all-conference and NFL upside.
