The Huskies could add another highly-ranked player to what's shaping up to be a historical 2027 recruiting class
The Washington Huskies 2027 recruiting class is on-pace to being the best in program history.
In the last month, the Huskies have added their 12th and 13th commitments of the class, respectively, in the last month: three-star tight end Zach Albright and three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell.
Washington is in the thick of the recruitment for several prospects ranking from fringe-four-stars to true blue chippers.
One of those blue chip prospects, '27 four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles, included the Huskies among the final teams he's considering.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound wide receiver from Tracy, Calif., had Washington, Tennessee, Alabama, Notre Dame and Stanford as the final five teams he's considering, per a post on "X" from Rivals reporter Hayes Fawcett.
Gayles has official visits scheduled with all five of his finalists.
Gayles currently attends recruitment hotbed IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. He's an almost unanimous top-100 recruit in the class. He's ranked as the 48th-best player, eighth-best wide receiver and sixth-best player from Florida, per the 247Sports Composite.
Director of scouting for 247Sports, Andrew Bivens, had the following scouting report on Gayles:
Gifted inside receiver with the intelligence, confidence and polish to elevate any passing attack. Manipulates defenders with impressive route tempo as he mixes speeds and snaps out of breaks at crisp angles. Can bypass coverage with advanced releases and easy acceleration. Tracks the ball extremely well and will find late burst when needed. Combative more times than not in 50-50 situations with his play strength. Slippery after the catch as he stacks cuts to avoid would-be tacklers. Not one that saw many targets come his way in a run-heavy attack as a junior, but did score on 40 percent of his receptions and has been a consistent top performer on the offseason circuit. Should be viewed as a potential high-volume slot that can get open at all three levels for a College Football Playoff hopeful.
The California native was a participant in the 2026 Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 3 and finished with two catches for nine yards.
In his junior season at IMG Academy in 2025, Gayles reeled in 20 passes for 492 yards and five touchdowns and ran five times for 70 yards and another score in nine games.
Gayles is ranked as the 51st-best player in the country and ninth-best wide receiver in the class, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
Currently, Rivals' prediction model has the Huskies with the second-best odds to land Gayles at 13.1%. Stanford is the team ahead of Washington (22%).
The Huskies' '27 recruiting class is currently ranked 11th in the country, per 247Sports.
The 10 teams ranked ahead of Washington are, in order: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Southern California (USC), UCLA, Notre Dame, Florida, Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon and Kentucky.
