The Huskies continued to bolster their 2027 recruiting class with their first offensive line recruit in Reis Russell
The Washington Huskies football team's spring practice schedule concluded at the beginning of May. The current team will pick up during the team's training camp, which will begin in August.
While the current crop of players are off practice, the coaching staff and head recruiters for the Huskies are hard at work attempting to continue to build the 2027 recruiting class.
Washington closed out the spring schedule with 12 commitments from the '27 graduates.
On Monday, the Huskies began the week strong by adding a 13th commit.
Three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell will be heading to the Pacific Northwest.
Russell currently attends Valor Christian High School in Littleton, Colo.
Russell is ranked as the 964th-best overall player, 64th-best interior offensive lineman and sixth-best player in Colorado from the class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Despite being a three-star prospect, the 6-foot-3.5, 295-pounder had an offer sheet more representative of a blue chip recruit.
Russell chose Washington among offers from Georgia, Miami, Southern California (USC), Arizona, Florida, Duke, Illinois, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, West Virginia and Southern Methodist (SMU), among others.
That profile bears shocking resemblance to another Huskies interior offensive lineman and Class of 2025 recruit John Mills.
Despite being a three-star recruit, Mills earned offers from notable prospects such as Michigan, Texas, TCU, Penn State, Florida and Nebraska, among others.
Mills was a true freshman starter on the interior offensive line for most of last season. He also suited up at right tackle for two games. He didn't turn 18-years-old until mid-October and was a near consensus national All-Freshman selection.
It's way too soon to tell if Russell will be capable of following in Mills' footsteps as an elite true freshman contributor, but the early signs are a positive one for UW.
Russell is the first offensive line commitment of the '27 class for Washington. The class is currently comprised of: Russell, four-star defensive lineman Justin Ioane, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf, four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope, three-star tight end Zach Albright, three-star cornerback/athlete Maurice Williams, three-star running back Jeremy Adeyanju, three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei and three-star linebackers Isaiah Leilua, Ethan Coach, Justin Coach and Titus Osterman.
The Huskies recruiting class currently ranks 10th in the country per 247Sports. The nine schools ranked ahead of Washington are, in order: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon and Kentucky.
