Dontay Tyson Jr. is reportedly down to the Huskies and Texas A&M Aggies for his college choices
The Washington Huskies football team is searching for the final pieces to its 2027 recruiting class.
Currently, the Huskies' Class of '27 ranks 13th in the country, per 247Sports. That ranking is two spots away from setting a program record for the highest ranking in program history.
There are several four-star '27 receivers who have named Washington as finalists who could help push UW over that mark. Osani Gayles and Tre Moore are two pass-catchers who have identified the Huskies among the final teams they're considering.
There's also a third four-star wide receiver that has the Huskies as one of his finalists.
According to a post on "X" from Rivals.com reporter Brandon Huffman, four-star wideout Dontay Tyson Jr. is down to two teams: Washington and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Tyson has a visit scheduled with the Huskies on May 29 and the Aggies on June 12.
Tyson attends Peoria High School in Peoria, Ariz. The state is a popular recruiting hot bed for UW head coach Jedd Fisch and the rest of the coaching staff. Fisch coached the Arizona Wildcats for three seasons for 2021-23.
Tyson is ranked as the 325th best player in the country, 42nd best wide receiver in the class and seventh best player in Arizona, per the 247Sports Composite.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound pass catcher received interest from several other notable programs, including state-native schools Arizona and Arizona State as well as Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Michigan, Florida State, Kansas, Minnesota and North Carolina, among others.
Based on Rivals.com's prediction model, it's very close to a complete toss-up as to whether Texas A&M or Washington will land Tyson.
Rivals.com has the Aggies with a 40.8% chance to land the Peoria native and the Huskies with a 35.7% chance to earn a commitment.
Tyson is top-end speed and was a state qualifier in track in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. He registered a 11.10-second 100-meter dash and a 22.49-second mark in the 200.
The 12 reams with '27 recruiting classes ranked of the Huskies (per 247Sports) are, in order: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Southern California (USC), UCLA, Penn State, Florida, Oregon, Kentucky, Ohio State, Miami and Minnesota.
If Tyson were to commit to Washington, he would be the fourth player in Arizona's top 10-ranked players (per the 247Sports Composite) to commit to the team alongside four-star running back Jeremy Adeyanju (No. 8 in Arizona), four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf (No. 4) and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney (No. 10).
