Myles Gaskin, one of the most prolific running backs in Huskies history, received playing time with his native NFL team

The Seattle Seahawks retook first place in the NFC West after a 26-0 win against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in Seattle.

The Seahawks improved to 9-3 on the season with the win, but it was an especially special day for a former Washington Husky and Seattle native.

Former Washington running back Myles Gaskin has been on-and-off Seattle's practice squad the entire season.

Gaskin was promoted to the active roster ahead of the game against the Vikings. He was behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet on the depth chart, but still received three carries for six yards.

Gaskin is native to the Seattle area. He was born in Lynnwood, Wash., and graduated high school at O'Dea in Seattle.

Gaskin played for the Huskies from 2015-18. While suiting up in the purple and gold, Gaskin set program records in career rushing yards (5,323) and rushing touchdowns (57). He has the eighth-to-10th-most single-season rushing seasons in program history.

Gaskin was picked in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Gaskin played with the Dolphins from 2019-22. He then played with the Los Angeles Rams in 2023 and Minnesota Vikings from '23-24. He spent parts of the last two seasons on the practice squad with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens.

Sunday was Gaskin's first time playing in a regular season game since 2023 when he was with the Rams.

In his career, Gaskin has played 39 games and has started 17 games. He's rushed 364 times for 1,361 yards and has caught 101 passes for 710 yards.

By playing in the game Sunday, Gaskin is the first player in NFL history to suit up at the high school, college and pro level in Seattle.

It's unsure how much Gaskin will factor into the Seahawks' roster for the rest of the season. But at the very least, he provides the team with veteran depth in the running back room, which can help the team as it goes deeper into the regular season and into the playoffs.

Seattle will next be in action on the road against the Atlanta Falcons at 10 a.m. PT on Dec. 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
