The Washington Huskies football team has increased its profile as one of the best recruiting programs in the country over the last several years.

Since Jedd Fisch took over as head coach ahead of the 2024 season, the Huskies inked the 23rd-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2025 and the 12th-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2026, respectively. The latter of the two classes was the highest-ranked one in program history.

Washington's 2027 recruiting class currently ranks 16th in the country, per the 247Sports composite, and earned its fourth wide receiver commit and third four-star wide receiver overall in the class Friday in Peoria, Ariz., pass-catcher Dontay Tyson Jr.

The Huskies' recruiting profile has grown significantly during Fisch's tenure. And two critical members of the team's recruiting staff recently signed extensions to remain with the program.

Director of recruiting Marcus Griffin and director of high school relations Jaleel Wadood both signed extensions, it was announced Friday.

Griffin was hired in Feb. 2025 to replace previous director of recruiting Josh Omura, who left the program to take the same job with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Griffin joined UW after a season with the Cal Golden Bears of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), where he worked as an assistant director of player personnel. He was a native of the Seattle area. He was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2014 out of Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Wash., and spent his playing days in college with the Arizona Wildcats (where Fisch served as head coach before being hired by Washington) and the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Wadood is another former college player from the Class of '14. He was a consensus top-200 overall player and committed to the UCLA Bruins out of St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif.

After his playing career was over, Wadood worked under former Bruins and then-UConn Huskies head coach Jim Mora as a member of his recruiting team from 2022-25. He was hired the same month as Griffin was in his current role as director of high school relations.

With Griffin and Wadood on the staff, not only has UW been able to maintain its recruiting pipelines from Fisch and other members of the coaching staff's tenure at Arizona, the Huskies have also been able to expand its recruiting roots and stay on top of in-state recruiting.

Washington has successfully recruited the top player in its home state three recruiting classes in a row from '25-27. The Huskies have also successfully ventured out into Arizona for several recruits and is currently in the works of expanding its trail to the east coast with its pursuit of three-star edge rusher Chaz Gray.
