Fourth-year wide receiver Rashid Williams and fourth-year cornerback Emmanuel Karnley will both be evaluated on a game-to-game basis.
The Washington Huskies football team's injuries have gone from bad to worse through the first two weeks of the season.
In Week 1, the Huskies lost the top two running backs on the depth chart, second-year Quaid Carr and fourth-year Jayden Limar, to long-term injuries, with Carr potentially being out the rest of the season.
Sixth-year wide receiver Christian Moss also exited the game with a lower-body soft tissue injury set to sideline him for two-to-three months.
On Saturday, a 16-14 win against the Utah State Aggies, fourth-year wide receiver Rashid Williams and fourth-year cornerback Emmanuel Karnley both exited with unspecified injuries. UW head coach Jedd Fisch said in a postgame news conference Saturday that, while Williams' injury wasn't thought to be one that would keep him out for a long stretch of time, he could still miss game time, and didn't have an update on Karnley's condition.
On Monday, ESPN college sports reporter Pete Thamel stated in posts on "X" that both Williams and Karnley are week-to-week with soft tissue injuries. Both players were listed on Washington's depth chart for its final nonconference game of the season. The Huskies will play the Eastern Washington Eagles at 4:15 p.m. PT on Sept. 19 at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Williams missed nearly the entirety of last season with a pair of separate injuries. He maintained his health throughout the offseason, developed a chemistry with third-year quarterback Demond Williams Jr. and earned a starting spot in the process.
Through the first two games of the season, Williams reeled in four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Karnley transferred to Washington from Virginia and almost instantly took hold of one of the two open outside cornerback spots, with returning second-year Dylan Robinson taking the other one. Last year's starters, Tacario Davis and Ephesians Prysock, were both selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Through the first two games of the season, Karnley had five total tackles (three solo) and two passes defended.
If Williams isn't able to go, the snaps will likely be taken by first-year wideouts Trez Davis and Jordan Clay, as they were Saturday against the Aggies. Clay finished with four catches for 42 yards and Davis had four catches for 44 yards.
First-year Jeron Jones will likely fill in for Karnley. The former has seven total tackles (six solo) this season and recorded an interception in the first game of the year against the Washington State Cougars.
