The Washington Huskies football team is just days away from beginning its spring football.
While the current Huskies work to get ready for a season that will have a healthy amount of expectations, potential future UW players will be making decisions on their collegiate futures.
One possible Washington player will make the decision on what college he'll play for before spring practice begins.
Four-star Class of 2027 defensive tackle Jon Ioane is set to announce what college he'll play for on the CBS Sports YouTube channel at 11:30 a.m. PT on Thursday according to a report on "X" from 247Sports recruiting analyst Blair Angulo.
Ioane will choose between the Huskies, Cal, Penn State, Stanford and UCLA.
Ioane, who attends high school in Tustin, Calif., is predicted to choose Washington over his three in-state options (Stanford, Cal, UCLA) and Penn State according to 247Sports Crystal Ball projections.
Ioane, who's listed at 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, is ranked as the 183rd-best overall player and 12th-best player in California in his class, according to 247Sports. He's currently scheduled to compete in the Polynesian Bowl, which is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2027.
In his junior season in 2025, Ioane registered 50 total tackles, including 14 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits, four sacks, three pass breakups and one forced fumble across 10 games.
If Ioane chooses the Huskies, he would be the 10th and highest-ranked recruit in the program's '27 class according to 247Sports. He would also be the second four-star recruit to commit to UW this recruiting cycle.
Washington's nine current commitments are: four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope, three-star cornerback/athlete Maurice Williams, three-star running back Jeremy Adeyanju, three-star linebackers Isaiah Leilua, Ethan Coach, Justin Coach and Titus Osterman and three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei.
Currently, Washington's '27 recruiting class ranks sixth in the country according to 247Sports. The five teams ranked ahead of the Huskies are, in order: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Georgia and Notre Dame. The only two teams ranked ahead of Washington with more recruits are Oklahoma (19 recruits) and Texas A&M (10 recruits).
A commitment from Ioane, a top 200 player, will likely launch Washington into top-five territory with its recruiting class.
The Huskies finished the Class of 2026 recruiting cycle with the 12th-ranked class in the country. That was the highest a UW recruiting class has been ranked in program history.
If Washington is able to land Ioane and continue at its current pace, its '27 class will likely exceed '26 in terms of rankings.
