The Huskies will be looking to win their second-straight Big Ten game against the Scarlet Knights

The Washington Huskies football team is coming off an impressive 24-20 win against the Maryland Terrapins last week, and will look to keep that momentum going during its homecoming game.

Washington will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 6 p.m. PT on Friday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

The Huskies will enter the game 4-1 and the Scarlet Knights are 3-2.

Washington received votes in the latest Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll, and a win against Rutgers could catapult the Huskies into the poll.

The Huskies scored 24 unanswered points in the win against Maryland, which featured two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter from sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. He finished 28-for-41 with 275 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He added 54 yards on 14 carries on the ground.

Washington coach Jedd Fisch highlighted the passing game, and getting senior running back Jonah Coleman rolling, as a key for the team to prevail against the Scarlet Knights' multiple-look defense.

"We're gonna be able to have to handle all the different looks they like to give (on defense)," Fisch said in a post by the official team account on "X." "They're extremely well-coached. A lot of different looks we're gonna have to navigate through. We got to make sure we get our passing game going, get (Jonah Coleman) running the ball."

In the same breath, Fisch mentioned protecting the football as a key. Washington has a +5 turnover margin, which is tied for sixth in the conference.

Rutgers is tied for 11th with a +1 turnover margin.

"We got to protect the football," Fisch said. "We got to take the football away from them and then we got to be able to manage all the excitement of the game Friday night."

The Huskies will hope the homecoming crowd will make things harder for the Scarlet Knights offense, which features one of the most prolific passers in the Big Ten.

Rutgers senior quarterback, Athan Kaliakmanis, is third in the conference in passing yards (1,399). He's thrown nine touchdowns, two interceptions and has completed 67.3% of his passes.

"They're scoring a lot of points. They're scoring points all over the place," Fisch said. "Very impressive passing game. Quarterback's playing at a really high level, wide receivers are making big time plays. We got our work cut out for us against these guys."

The game between Washington and the Scarlet Knights will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
