Several key contributors will be out for the Huskies upcoming game against Maryland

The Washington football team will be looking to earn its first Big Ten win of the season in a trip to the east coast to play Maryland at 12:30 p.m. PT on Oct. 4.

The Huskies are coming off their first loss of the season against No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 27. In that game, Washington was missing several key contributors in the secondary.

Freshman safety Rahshawn Clark, senior cornerback Tacario Davis and senior safety CJ Christian all missed the team's 24-6 loss against the No. 1 Buckeyes due to various injuries.

Huskies coach Jedd Fisch provided an injury update on the key secondary players.

"Rahsawn is cleared, CJ is not at this point," Fisch said in a news conference Monday. "Still working through turf toe for CJ. Those are challenging. Those are really challenging, as we see really across the country from (Cincinnati Bengals quarterback) Joe Burrow on. You hear about these turf toe injuries and they're pretty significant. ... CJ's not in a (serious) position, but I think we're still a week or two away for CJ. But Rahshawn is fully cleared and we're expecting him back and we're hopeful Tacario will be back, as well."

Fisch also clarified that Davis had been dealing with a rib injury.

In three games this season, Clark had eight total tackles and a 14-yard sack. He returned one punt for 17 yards.

Christian transferred to the Huskies before this season after three seasons at Florida International. He's yet to record a start with the Huskies.

Davis was a two-time all-conference selection with Arizona. He was second-time All-Pac-12 in 2023 and second-team All-Big-12 in '24. He transferred to Washington before this season. He's registered a tackle, an interception and two passes defended in two games this year.

The Huskies will enter Saturday's game 3-1 and the Terrapins will be looking to protect a perfect 4-0 record.
