Fisch has been rumored to be in the running for a job at his alma mater.

The Washington Huskies are in the second year under head coach Jedd Fisch and have already seen improvements from the first year to the second.

Washington ended 2024 6-7, just one season after advancing to the College Football Playoff national championship.

This year, the Huskies have improved by two wins. They'll have a chance to end the regular season 9-3, a three-win improvement, in their season finale against No. 6 Oregon at 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

And if recent reports are to be believed, there's a chance that could be the last game Fisch coaches for Washington.

The Florida Gators are still looking for a new head coach after it fired Billy Napier, who was hired before the 2022 season.

The Gators' No. 1 priority was reportedly Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. But, according to a recent report from Pete Thamel and Mark Schlabach of ESPN, Florida is shifting focus away from Kiffin into other candidates.

According to the report, the Gators have interviewed "roughly a dozen" candidates. According to the report Fisch is an option to replace Napier. Other options to take over at Florida include Louisville coach Jeff Brohm and Tulane head man Jon Sumrall.

Fisch began his college career with the Gators. He graduated from Florida in 1998 and was brought on as a graduate assistant from 1999-2000.

From that point on, Fisch began a long coaching career that's included professional and collegiate stops. At the NFL level, Fisch has been an assistant or position coach with the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.

In college, Fisch was an assistant or position coach with the Minnesota Gophers, Miami Hurricanes and UCLA Bruins. He first received his taste of being a head coach when he took over on an interim basis with UCLA in 2017. He was hired as a head coach for the first time by Arizona in 2021. He had that role with the Wildcats through the 2023 season before he was hired by the Huskies.

Fisch replaced Kalen DeBoer, who left Washington to take a job with another Southeastern Conference (SEC) school, Alabama.

Due to Fisch's ties to the Gators, rumors likely won't subside until Florida hires a new coach. But it's something to keep an eye on and could have a major impact on the team in the future.

The Huskies currently have the No. 15-ranked 2026 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports. If Fisch were to leave, there's a chance many of those players could switch up their commitments.
