The Huskies bolstered their front court and continued to plant their international recruitment pipeline by landing Wini Braga
The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is getting closer and closer to completing the final construction of the roster for the 2026-27 season.
NCAA teams are allowed a max of 15 players on a roster and the Huskies' number grew to 12 with a recent commitment Tuesday.
According to a report on "X" from Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress, Washington landed 21-year-old, 6-foot-9 forward Wini Braga from Brazil.
Braga currently competed for Minas of Brazil's professional basketball league, Novo Basquete Brasil.
In the 2025-26 season with Minas, Braga averaged 10.1 points on 51.5% shooting from the floor (30.2% from 3-point range) in 42 games. He also averaged six rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 assists per contest.
Braga has also experience competing on the international stage with his native country in various competitions. He played four games for Brazil in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup and averaged 1.3 points and two rebounds per contest.
Minas again suited up for his native country in the 2027 FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifying games in the beginning of March. He averaged eight points and 3.7 rebounds.
Braga also reportedly received interest from the Kentucky Wildcats.
Braga's commitment continues a string of international recruiting wins for Washington head coach Danny Sprinkle.
Last offseason, the Huskies earned a commitment from 6-foot-10 freshman forward Hannes Steinbach out of Germany. Steinbach finished his lone year as a Big Ten All-Freshman, third-team All-Big Ten and entered the 2026 NBA Draft.
Steinbach received an invite to the 2026 NBA Draft Combine and has been projected to be a fringe-lottery pick.
Sprinkle and Washington also landed a commitment from 6-foot-10 forward/center Nikola Dzepina.
Dzepina joined the team in the winter and played 14 games for the Huskies. He's one of six players who returned to the team from last year's squad.
Like Braga, Steinbach and Dzepina also had experience competing in the FIBA World Cup.
Based on scouting reports, Braga excels in the pick-and-roll game, making him a perfect partner for newly-acquired senior point guard Ryan Beasley.
Braga's exact role with Washington is hard to pin down. Newly-acquired senior forward LeJuan Watts will likely start either on the wing or the power forward spot.

But given his injury history, it's possible he could be in a sixth-man role.
Braga's shot-blocking ability can also make up for the Huskies' current lack of an established rim protector. Soon-to-be junior center Lathan Sommerville is set to return to the team but has yet to be a starter across an entire season.
Washington needs three more players to have a full roster.
