San Francisco Guard Ryan Beasley will be joining the Huskies for the 2026-27 season

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team has been in need for a floor general for several weeks now.

Starting junior point guard Zoom Diallo transferred to Kentucky and backup sophomore point guard JJ Mandaquit chose to join the Arizona Wildcats via the portal.

The Huskies have been in contact and have hosted several guards in the portal that could take over point guard duties for Diallo and Mandaquit.

On Monday, Washington found the player who will likely take over primary ball-handling duties.

According to a post on "X" from Dawgman247 reporter Jack McCauley, soon-to-be-senior point guard Ryan Beasley has transferred to the Huskies from the West Coast Conference's San Francisco.

In his third year last season with the Dons, Beasley averaged 13.6 points across 31 games (all starts) on 40.7% shooting from the floor. He also averaged four assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per  game. He averaged 33.3 minutes per game last season.

In three years with San Francisco, Beasley played in at least 29 games each season and averaged at least 22.3 minutes per game.

Beasley is the third transfer portal addition of the current window. UW added 6-foot-7, 200-pound wing Steele Venters (Gonzaga) and 6-foot-4, 200-pound sophomore shooting guard Parker Friedrichsen (Davidson) earlier in the portal.

With Venters, Friedrichsen and Beasley's recent commitments, the Huskies' roster for the 2026-26 season is currently comprised of: Venters, Friedrichsen, Beasley, sophomore guard BJ Roy, sophomore forward Jasir Rencher, junior guard Wesley Yates III, senior forward Mady Traore, junior center Lathan Sommerville and sophomore forward/center Nikola Dzepina.

Rencher is currently dealing with a heart condition that cut short his year last year and that he underwent a procedure for. His status for next season is still up in the air.

With Rencher's availability still in doubt, that leaves six-to-seven roster spots still open for Washington fill.

The Huskies could make a big push to fill those spots in the coming days. UW has already hosted senior forward LeJuan Watts (Texas Tech) and is waiting on the commitment of junior guard Mikey Lewis, who's visited Washington, the Oregon Ducks and Villanova Wildcats over the last week.

Other notes:

Multiple potential targets for the Huskies have announced their commitments to other universities.

-- Senior center Drew Fielder (Boise State) announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide. He previously took a visit with Washington.

-- Senior guard Braeden Smith (Gonzaga) also recently had a visit with the Huskies. The Seattle native opted to head to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish rather than to home.
