The Huskies landed Davidson transfer and senior guard Parker Friedrichsen
The Washington Huskies men's basketball team entered this offseason looking to replace eight-to-nine players on the roster.
The Huskies have hosted several players over the weekend they hope to add to the team ahead of the 2026-27 season.
UW was able to land one of those players on Sunday night.
According to a post on "X," soon-to-be-senior guard Parker Friedrichsen has committed to play for Washington for the 2026-27 season.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard will be joining Montlake after three years at Wake Forest and Davidson, respectively. UW's main competition to land him was Kansas State, according to reports.
Friedrichsen was ranked as the 93rd-best player in the country and second-best player in Oklahoma in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports. The Bixby, Okla., native committed to Wake Forest amidst offers from Iowa, Notre Dame, Illinois, Creighton, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Purdue and Xavier, among others.
Friedrichsen struggled to crack the starting rotation for the Demon Deacons in his two seasons in Winston-Salem, N.C. He played 66 games and started six. His best year with Wake Forest was his freshman season in 2023-24, where he averaged 5.1 points per game on 39.6% from the floor.
Friedrichsen transferred to Davidson, another school he received an offer from coming out of high school, ahead of this past season. He scored 10.8 points per game in 34 contests (33 starts) on 42% shooting (40.5% from 3-point range). He also averaged 2.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Friedrichsen is likely to be a 3-point specialist/off-ball two-guard off the bench for the Huskies this upcoming season. This would make him a perfect one-to-one sub off the bench for junior guard Wesley Yates III, who currently projects to be the team's starting shooting guard among the players currently on the roster.
With the latest portal acquisition, Washington's roster now stands at: sophomore guard BJ Roy, sophomore forward Jasir Rencher, Yates, graduate center Franck Kepnang, senior forward Mady Traore, junior center Lathan Sommerville, sophomore forward/center Nikola Dzepina and Friedrichsen.
This move will likely be the first of several to come in the next several days for the Huskies. Senior forward LeJuan Watts (Texas Tech) and senior forward Steele Venters (Gonzaga) were both on campus this past weekend for visits. Senior center Drew Fielder is also scheduled to visit campus in Seattle.
The transfer portal is scheduled to close April 21.
