The Washington Huskies football team seems positioned to make a final push for several four-star recruits over the coming weeks.

The Huskies already earned one of the biggest recruiting wins of the 2027 recruiting cycle by landing local four-star defensive lineman Tevita Nonu, who attends O'Dea High School in Seattle.

UW is reportedly looking to add more to the defensive line and is reportedly making a push to land three-star New Jersey edge rusher Chaz Gray.

Before Washington finds out whether or not it will land Gray, it will be awaiting the decision of a four-star '27 safety target.

Malakai Taufoou will announce his commitment in a livestream on the Rivals official YouTube page at 12:30 p.m. PT.

Taufoou will be choosing between the Huskies, the Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Cal Golden Bears and BYU Cougars.

Taufoou is listed as the 406th-best overall player, 36th-best safety and 35th-best player in California, per the 247Sports Composite. He attends Juniperro High School in San Mateo, Calif.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back had 46 total tackles (38 solo), including six tackles for loss, four interceptions and three passes defended.

Taufoou has some college ties pertaining to where his older brother, Will Taufoou, played.

The elder of the two brothers played his college ball with Cal for four seasons from 2005-08, during which he was teammates with notable NFL running backs Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett and Jahvid Best. Taufoou was a fullback and blocked for all those NFL-bound running backs.

Will Taufoou spent five years in the NFL and the practice squad and acting rosters for several teams, including the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Based on Rivals.com's prediction model, the younger of the two Tuafoou's seems positioned to follow in his elder brother's footsteps.

Malakai Tuafoou has a 90.9% chance to commit to the Golden Bears, per the website. Oregon is second behind Cal at 3.1% and the Huskies are in third place at 2.7%.

Even if the Huskies don't land the initial commitment, they could be in a position to still convince Tuafoou to head to the Pacific Northwest.

Tuafoou has official visits scheduled with several teams after his commitment decision. He's set to visit Oregon on May 29, Penn State on June 5, Cal on June 11 and Washington on June 19.

If Washington were to land Tuafoou, he would be the second safety to join the team in the '27 recruiting cycle, with the other being four-star Isala Aisa Wily-Ava.
