Five-star Class of 2028 edge rusher Jalanie George will be announcing the team he'll be joining Oct. 1.
The Washington Huskies football team could earn its first big recruiting win of the Class of 2028 in the next two weeks.
The Huskies have been efficient on the recruiting trail since head coach Jedd Fisch and the rest of his staff have set roots in the Pacific Northwest. The Class of 2026, which has already produced several key contributors to the team, ranked 12th in the nation, which was the highest ranking a UW class has received in program history. The Class of 2027 ranks 24th in the country, per 247Sports.
One of the top players in the Class of '28, five-star edge rusher Jalanie George, is set to make his commitment Oct. 1, per a report from Hayes Fawcett for Rivals.
George will be choosing from a final four comprised of Washington, the Auburn Tigers, the Miami Hurricanes and Wisconsin Badgers.
The Badgers weren't included in George's previous top teams list, but inserted themselves bag in the conversation with an impressive official visit earlier this month.
It's been predicted for weeks that the Huskies would land George, but Wisconsin's recent inclusion back into the blue-chip prospect's final four suggests that the edge rusher is still open to new developments.
At the time the prediction was logged, UW and the Oklahoma Sooners were considered the two front-runners to land George.
Even with the newest updates in George's recruitment, UW is still considered the favorites.
On3 Sports' prediction model has Washington with a 94.2% chance to land George. The only other team that's been given a percentage is Auburn at 1.2%.
George is ranked as the 27th-best player in the country, the seventh-best edge rusher in the class and the third-best player in Arizona, per the 247Sports composite.
Rivals Industry rankings has George ranked as the 23rd-best player in the nation, the sixth-best edge rusher and the second-best player in Arizona.
George attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., which has already produced multiple commitments for the Huskies. Two Class of '27 commitments, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, committed to UW.
The Badgers also have multiple Desert Edge players either currently playing or committed to the program, which could help Washington's Big Ten rivals make a legitimate push in the final days leading to George's commitment.
If the Huskies are able to land George, he could become the first commitment in what has the possibility to end up as a special recruiting class. UW is also pursuing the top offensive tackle in the class, Cass Technical High School (Detroit) lineman Antijuan Wilkes Jr.
