The Huskies crop of 2027 pass-catching commits seems to be locked at its current number after missing out on Zion White and Osani Gayles.
The Washington Huskies football team is on track to have a recruiting class ranked within the top 30 in the nation for the third year in a row with its current crop of 2027 graduates.
A major success in the '27 recruiting class for the Huskies in this cycle has been landing wide receivers.
Currently, Washington has four wide receivers committed from the Class of '27. Despite having an embarrassment of riches at the position, the Huskies were still in the running to potentially land a fifth pass-catcher.
Unfortunately for the Huskies, they struck out on both.
Four-star wide receiver Zion White committed to Cal on June 19 and four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles committed to Alabama on Saturday.
Gayle chose the Crimson Tide over Washington and Stanford.
White opted for the Golden Bears amidst other final teams including the Huskies and North Carolina. Both wide receivers played for recruiting hot bed IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla., for their junior seasons last fall.
Gayles would have been the highest-ranked recruit in Washington's class if he opted to head to the Pacific Northwest. He's ranked as the 46th-best overall player, eighth-best wide receiver and fifth-best player in the state, per the 247Sports composite.
Gayles, listed at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, had 20 catches for 492 yards and five touchdowns in his junior season this past fall with IMG.
White, who transferred to Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii, to play his senior season, is ranked as the 212th-best overall player, 32nd-best wide receiver and second best player in the state per the 247Sports composite.
The 6-foot-4, 199-pound pass-catcher reeled in 10 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns for IMG his junior year.
With those two receivers off the board, the Huskies will likely continue to go with the four wide receivers currently committed to the team.
Those four pass-catchers are four-stars: Braylon Pope and Tre Moore and three-star Zerek Sidney.
Per the 247Sports composite, Moore is ranked as the 160th-best overall player, 23rd-best wide receiver and 24th-best player in Texas; Pope is ranked as the 201st-best overall player, 28th-best wide receiver and best player in Washington; Tyson is ranked as the 329th-best overall player, 48th-best wide receiver and seventh-best player in Arizona and Sidney is ranked as the 722nd-best overall player, 84th-best wide receiver and 14th-best player in Arizona.
Washington's '27 recruiting class currently has 21 commits. The program is ranked 28th in the country per the 247Sports composite. The Huskies have several Big Ten rivals ranked ahead of the program in the rankings: Oregon (No. 6); Ohio State (No. 8); Penn State (No. 13); USC (No. 14); UCLA (No. 17); Nebraska (No. 19); Michigan (No. 22); Wisconsin (No. 23) and Minnesota (No. 25).
