The Huskies reportedly had former Longhorn forward Aaliyah Moore on campus recently
The Washington Huskies women's basketball team is coming off its most successful season in nearly a decade. The Huskies won their first NCAA tournament game this March since 2017, which was also the first March Madness win in three trips for UW head coach Tina Langley.
Going into the offseason, Washington was expected to have a rare benefit in the modern era of college sports, which was to retain its top college players.
The NCAA transfer portal closed on Wednesday. And based on the news available, it seems like that assumption was correct.
The Huskies' roster in 2026-27 is likely to feature the returns of senior first-team All-Big Ten guard Sayvia Sellers, sophomore forward and Big Ten All-Freshman Brynn McGaughy and junior All-Big Ten honorable mention guard Avery Howell.
Even with the high-end returning players to the roster, Washington still needed to replace roughly eight players who either left via the portal or graduated/ran out of eligibility.
The Huskies have filled in half of those spots this offseason: four-star Class of 2026 recruit Amayah Garcia (guard), senior guard Macey Huard (Oklahoma State), junior forward Tilda Trygger (North Carolina State) and junior guard Brooke Carlson (Colorado State).
Washington could be looking to add a fifth potential player to the roster this offseason.
According to an article from On3 Sports reporter Talia Goodman, the Huskies were "currently" hosting senior Texas forward Aaliyah Moore as of time of the article publishing Tuesday.
Moore, a 6-foot-1 forward and former McDonald's All-American, spent the last five seasons with the Texas Longhorns from 2021-26. She made the NCAA tournament every year she was with Texas, made the Final Four twice ('25-26) and Elite Eight four times ('22, '24-26).
Moore was ranked as a Top 10 overall recruit in the Class of '21.
Moore missed this past season due to surgeries she underwent in May to both her knees. She played in just nine games in '22-23 and was granted a medical redshirt due to a torn ACL in her left knee and she played in just 19 games in '24-25 due to right knee tendinitis.
Moore has seen the court in a total of 89 games (56 starts) across her five years with the Longhorns amidst all the injuries. She's played in at least 28 contests in just two of those years.
In her last year on the court in '24-25, Moore averaged 7.9 points on 47.3% shooting and 4.6 rebounds.
