The Huskies women's basketball team added a second player via the portal and the men are continuing to build their list of potential acquisitions
It is the peak of portal season for both NCAA men's and women's basketball programs. For the Washington Huskies, the women's team appears to be adding the final touches to their 2026-27 roster.
The men's team in the meanwhile seems to be waiting on several dominoes to fall before making the final pushes for its own roster.
Here's a roundup for recent news for the Huskies men's and women's basketball teams:
Tilda Trygger, F, WBB
The Washington women's basketball team has lost eight players this offseason via graduation and the transfer portal.
The Huskies filled in two of those open roles with the impending arrival of four-star Class of 2026 guard Amayah Garcia and transfer portal acquisition Macey Huard (Oklahoma State).
Washington took care of a third available spot on the roster with a second transfer portal acquisition Saturday.
Soon-to-be-junior forward and North Carolina State transfer Tilda Trygger was announced as the latest member of the Huskies women's basketball team in a post on "X."
Trygger, in her second season with the Wolfpack, averaged 10.6 points across 30 games (all starts) on 51.8% shooting from the floor (33.9% from 3-point range). She also averaged seven rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 assists per game.
The Swedish native will provide UW flexibility among their bigs. If head coach Tina Langley wants to opt for two forward/bigs in '26-27, she should be able to pair Trygger with Big Ten All-Freshman forward Brynn McGaughy. If Langley opts to go back to a four-guard lineup, as she did for most of last season, Trygger will be a solid backup for McGaughy.
Whatever her role, Trygger is all but certain to be an immediate contributor for the Huskies.
Gabe Dynes, C, MBB
The Washington men's basketball team will need multiple front court players to replace starters Hannes Steinabch (NBA Draft) and Franck Kepnang (transfer portal) next season.
The Huskies have already hosted double-digit scorer and Boise State transfer Drew Fielder. But, he's reportedly been offered multiple lucrative name, image and likeness (NIL) offers and is set for a visit with Alabama.
Even if UW manages to land Fielder, it will still need to find a rim protector to replace Kepnang. Head coach Danny Sprinkle and the rest of the staff might have a great option in Southern California (USC) transfer Gabe Dynes.
The 7-foot-5, 214-pound soon-to-be-senior has reportedly drawn interest from several schools since news broke he was entering the portal Friday. Washington is one of those squads.

He also averaged 2.3 rebounds and a block per game.
Other teams reportedly interested in the center's services are: Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona, St. Mary's and Oklahoma, among others, according to On3 Sports reporter Joe Tipton.
Jaylin Stewart, F, MBB
Washington has reportedly done its due diligence on Seattle natives who are currently in the portal.
The Huskies were interested in Texas Teach transfer and Rainier Beach High School (Seattle) graduate Jaylen Petty before he committed to UCLA.
Senior forward Jaylin Stewart recently entered the portal after three seasons with the UConn Huskies.
Stewart, like Petty, is a Seattle native. The latter graduated from Garfield High School in 2023.
Stewart was a consistent bench contributor in his three seasons with UConn. He played in at least 32 games each year and averaged at least 16.2 minutes per game each of the last two seasons. He also earned valuable postseason experience. With the east coast Huskies, Stewart won one national title ('24), made the NCAA national tournament thrice ('24-26) and advanced to the national championship game twice ('24, '26). However, Stewart was unable to crack the starting rotation on a consistent basis.
This past year, Stewart averaged 4.2 points across 32 games (12 starts) on 43% shooting from the field in addition to 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
The Huskies reportedly have interest in a hometown reunion with the 6-foot-7, 225-pound wing per a post on "X" from SeaTown Sports reporter Kevin Cacabelos.
Dates to remember
The NCAA women's basketball transfer portal window closes April 20 and the men's basketball portal window closes a day later on April 21.
Players who have already entered the portal before the window closes can still transfer to a new team.
