The Huskies brought in 6-foot-2 guard Macey Huard, who's family has one of the most recognizable names in school history
Through the first week of the transfer portal being open, the Washington Huskies women's basketball team has been able to avoid losing it's best non-graduating returners, but have still lost some depth.
Huskies guards Sienna Harvey, Chloe Briggs and forward Olivia Anderson all opted to enter the portal. All three players, particularly Harvey and Briggs, were candidates to earn more playing time this season with senior starting guards Elle Ladine and Hannah Stines both graduating.
With the trio opting to take their talents elsewhere, Washington was able to add to its backcourt depth by bringing in a familiar name for fans of UW athletics.
According to a post on her official account on "X" (@HuardMacey), senior guard Macey Huard opted to transfer to the Huskies from Oklahoma State.
Huard's the daughter of Brock Huard and Molly Huard, who both carved out legacies at Washington.
Brock Huard played on the football team from 1995-98 and Molly Huard was on the women's basketball team from 1995-99, where she made two NCAA tournament trips with the Huskies.
Macey Huard will be looking to carve out her owl legacy with the Huskies following a year that was lost due to injuries.
Huard didn't suit up for Oklahoma State last year, her junior season, due to a foot injury that she underwent surgery for in November.
In Huard's sophomore year with the Cowgirls (2024-25), she played in 31 games (three starts) and averaged 6.4 points on 39.5% shooting from the floor. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game.
Before transferring to Oklahoma State, Huard was with the Montana Grizzlies. In her freshman season, she averaged 7.4 points per game on 38.9% shooting (including a 36.1% mark from 3-point range) and brought in 2.9 boards per contest across 32 games.
Due to Huard taking a medical redshirt for her lost season last year, she has two years of eligibility remaining.
Having Huard on the roster gives head coach Tina Langley a unique potential size advantage in the backcourt. With first-team All-Big Ten guard Sayvia Sellers and All-Big Ten honorable mention guard Avery Howell both presumed to be returning, the Huskies could legitimately have one of the most talented backcourts in the conference next season.
Langley and Washington's ranks will also be bolstered by the impending arrival of four-star Class of 2026 guard Amayah Garcia.
The 15-day transfer portal window ends April 20. Players who have already entered the portal at the time of the window ending can still choose a new destination.
