The Washington Huskies football team has started to make some headway in the 2027 recruiting class and they could add one of the best players in the country at the expense of a Big Ten rival.
The Huskies offered four-star 2027 quarterback Peter Bourque on Jan. 28.
Bourque, listed at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, committed to Washington's Big Ten rivals, the Michigan Wolverines, on Aug. 11.
Since his commitment, the Wolverines moved on from previous head coach, Sherrone Moore, and hired Kyle Whittingham to replace him.
Since Moore's firing, Bourque has received offers from several other schools, including Penn State and Virginia Tech. Those offers and the Huskies' are in addition to the existing ones he has from other notable programs such as: Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Kentucky and others.
Bourque is listed as the 86th-best player in the class, the sixth-best quarterback in the country and best player in Massachusetts, according to the 247Sports Composite.
If Washington is able to flip Bourque, it would be the second class in a row the Dawgs have signed a top 100 player.
The last top 100 player signed by the Huskies was their only five-star recruit of the 2026 class, Kodi Greene, who was ranked as the 20th-best player in the country per the 247Sports Composite.
Bourque had the following scouting report according to 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Nivens:
Towering pocket passer with a live arm that has turned heads with his exit velocity, release points and ball placement. Will head to college with a little more seasoning than others after electing to reclassify and move back a year. That gained maturity constantly shows up on tape as he’s a decisive thrower that limits risks. Sees the field well and will let route concepts develop while coordinating a modern pro-style attack. Rips tight spirals to the second and third levels with ease and has proven to be extremely efficient working off play-action.
If Washington is able to sign Bourque, the program could have one of the best young quarterbacks in the country going into the 2027.
The Huskies are also one of the final teams in the running for four-star quarterback Sione Kaho.
Kaho is a local player from Tacoma, Wash.
The Huskies improved three wins from Year 1 (6-7 record) to Year 2 (9-4) under head coach Jedd Fisch and signed the 12th-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2026. Signing Bourque would set Washington up to have another top-tier '27 class.
Washington currently has three hard commits for the '27 class according to 247Sports: four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope and three-star athlete Maurice Williams.
